How it works — quick guide
- In Recipe costing, add ingredients with quantity and unit cost — you get a plate cost and a suggested price at your target food-cost %.
- Tap Add this plate to the menu to drop it into the matrix, or add dishes directly below.
- In Menu matrix, enter each dish's plate cost, menu price and units sold.
- Read the engineering: every dish is a Star, Plowhorse, Puzzle or Dog by popularity and margin (Kasavana–Smith method).
- Act on the colour-coded advice, then save or export the menu.
Dual engine: the calculator runs fully offline and produces every number itself. The optional Assistant tab adds a Groq AI specialist that only explains or drafts from those numbers — it never changes them. Add a free Groq key to switch it on.

Optional AI specialist. Add your Groq key for a menu consultant's read on the matrix. It never changes the numbers — the engine works fully offline without it.
AI specialist — menu consultant
The AI specialist only interprets the numbers this app already computed — it never changes them. Your key is stored only in this browser and sent only to Groq.
